The Butterfly Effect! Mechanimal Style.. :)

I have not been updating much here, hmm... Too busy with school n stuff.. So sorry. Oh well, here's what i've been up to in Lasalle College of Arts.

This i made for my Photoshop class in school. We were assign to make our very own "Mechanimals". The objective is to just use mechanical stuff to form an animal.
I made a butterfly! I wanted to focus on the little details. Some of the parts i used are metal ornaments, because butterfly are kinda "soft-girly" animal and the curly parts were what i used to portray that. I also used clock hands which are pointy cause i want to show that even if my butterfly is girly but it still got some edge, something to be beware of. :)
I decided to color overlayed it because the criteria of the assignment is i have to print it on white background. If there's no color, the shine from the mechanical parts wont contrast with the background but instead blend in. So i though i of using green cause to get the earthly feel from the butterfly.

This is what i've done before using color overlay. I change the background to black. It look so much better this way. There's contrast and you can actually see how the butterfly is form. If you realized i didnt give any feelers for the butterfly, but instead the goldish/bronze top looks like a crown so its more of a queen butterfly! Muahahaa... But too bad i cant hand in this one for my assignment. If i could, i think i might get the highest score! :(
